Technology Support and Computer Tutoring
For those of you who have never met me, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Dexter Graphic, I'm a completely honest, thoroughly trustworthy, and surprisingly creative guy! And I'm available to help you with computer, printer, networking, Internet, smartphone, tablet, email, Wi-Fi, TV, smart home, photography, publishing, website, and many other technology challenges. I want you to feel more empowered and productive in your use of technology, and ultimately more satisfied with your life.
Do you want to learn how to setup, configure, understand, and use your various technology devices more effectively? Well, then I'm your man! I'm a natural teacher and love explaining how things work, usually in a clear, patient, and non-judgmental way. And I'm hoping that you’ll enjoy it, because with the right attitude learning can be a lot of fun! This is my role as your technology tutor.
Plus, I can advise you on the purchase of new technology devices that will work well with your existing equipment, your present skill level, and your future goals. Just think of me as your own personal IT consultant and technology procurement advisor.
Here is a list of some of the fun and exciting technology projects I can help you with:
Setup a home/office network with shared printers and files.
Design and build your own personal or business website.
Learn how to organize, edit, and share photos online.
Create a failsafe backup system for all of your data.
Build a family photo archive by scanning your collection of slides, prints, and negatives before they deteriorate further.
Consolidate all of your passwords into one master list using a securely encrypted password manager.
Upgrade an older desktop PC, or even build a new one yourself, from parts ordered online.
Use Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom to edit and enhance your photos, then send some of them to be professionally printed and framed.
Publish a book, design and print a flyer, create innovative business cards, or update an office form.
Setup a voice activated smart home using Google services, Nest security & cameras, SmartThings sensors, dimmable light bulbs, switchable outlets, and many other fun & useful components that will make it seem like you're living on the Starship Enterprise.
Archive all of your old emails from various accounts into one searchable database.
Explore Open Source and Free Software alternatives to proprietary programs and operating systems.
Learn how to move all of you files into Google Drive cloud storage and use a Chromebook or Chromebox as your main computer.
I also do computer repair, for example: removing malware, installing or upgrading software, troubleshooting strange behaviors, replacing malfunctioning hardware, upgrading memory, adding more storage, organizing your data files, or just tuning-up and cleaning-up an older and slower computer. I’m pretty good at this because I've been building and repairing PCs for over 30 years. Experience matters! Your brain actually gets hard-wired for certain types of problem solving over time.
My rate is $72 per hour, but I offer discounts to make bigger projects and ongoing (weekly) tutoring more affordable.
You can come to my home office or I can come to your home or office. And some things we might be able to do over the phone.
I'm located in Eugene, Oregon, and my normal service area is within 45 minutes' drive from here, although special arrangements can be made if you need me to travel further. I do charge for coming to your home or office location (making a house call), generally 1/2 hour per trip.
Feel free to contact me anytime for more info or to discuss your specific computer tutoring and technology support needs.
